Raging Speedhorn: We will be dead tomorrow

12/06/08  ||  Kampfar

I wouldn’t know what the fuck a raging speedhorn is, but it I do know raging shoehorn would have been an indefinitely worse moniker to have. Fuck my bullshit, this band was excellent, was because their latest, namely “Before the sea was built”, is a shit album. Forget I ever mentioned it. All their other releases are an entirely different story, but for now I’ll focus and serve you my take on “We will be dead tomorrow”.

“The hate song” kicks this fucker right into gear, a full frontal attack, no fucking intro bullshit, the vocalist barely able to finish his: “I hate you all”, before the band comes crashing in. Man, what a fucking lovely start, one not be let down, not in the slightest. The opener is a kick in the teeth, no doubt about it, but when “WBDT” feels for dragging you through the mud, you can take acid on the fact that it will properly do so. Face down, fucker. Try “Heartbreaker” if you are in need of convincing.

If you need a genre description, suck on this: Sludge core something, with groove, hate and A.I.D.S. But, please, don’t let the core tag scare you away, not this time. It doesn’t sound like a lot set to fit into a specific genre this, rather one who banged out their bile and whatnot in what way came natural to them. I suggest you shot your ears open if disagreeing.

And I haven’t even yet mentioned the deep as a pit and ace growls, not courtesy of the same dude screaming/sneering the album into a perfect start. I care to mention no names, only that the dual (vocal) attack captured on this disc is beyond awesome. Take a listen to “Fuck the voodooman”, cuntface.

I’ll end this shitter by hailing the production, courtesy of a twat with a very ugly surname, as “WWBDT” sounds brilliant, brilliant as in dirty, loud, heavy and mean, and with a shitload of punch.

9,5 out of 10.
